The One Piece of Decor Meghan Markle, Bobby Berk, and Dakota Johnson Have in Common
Dakota Johnson's house tour has to be one of the most talked about Architectural Digest celebrity home visits, at least by the younger generations. Her iconic green kitchen can be found on a slew of Pinterest boards, and it remains one of her most impactful moments on the internet (sorry, Madame Web).
But what made its rounds on the internet wasn't just her beautifully styled home—it was also the awkward way in which she referenced a bowl of limes on her kitchen counter. As it turns out, these seven seconds could have had a ripple effect much greater than she could have expected.

Who would have thought that such a simple thing would take the fanciest kitchens we're privy to by storm? As it turns out, many people.
While watching With Love, Meghan, Meghan Markle's new home living show on Netflix, I couldn't help but notice a bowl of citrus fruits in the middle of her island. It reminded me of the decorative bowls of fruit my mom used to leave on the island in my childhood home, and then of Dakota Johnson's hilariously awkward riff about the limes in her kitchen.
These limes have recently garnered more attention because Johnson actually admitted that she is actually allergic to limes and decided to randomly comment on them since a home stylist had placed the bowl as a decorative piece.
Well, apparently her home stylist isn't the only one who considers this an understated, yet tasteful decor feature for a kitchen.

Bobby Berk, celebrity interior designer best known for his stint on Queer Eye, made a TikTok about this very topic; his "social media person" also decided that a bowl of limes would be welcoming and aesthetically pleasing. And that's not to mention the other, bigger bowl of citrus fruits he sets it next to that is already out for decor.
Whether or not Dakota Johnson is to thank for this trend or not is really anyone's guess, but for now what we do know is it's chic, affordable, and colorful decor that anyone can add to their kitchen (and that is the truth, Ellen).
