Coziness and Nostalgia Are Here to Stay: Zillow Unveils Their 2025 Home Trends
We're all looking for a little more coziness and nostalgia in 2025—at least in our home decor, according to Zillow. They just unveiled their 2025 home trends, from leaning into cozy vibes like having a smaller living room or den, to prioritizing smart features in our homes, these top trends by Zillow are on the move.
“Energy-efficient and climate-resilient home features are quickly gaining popularity," said Amanda Pendleton, Zillow’s home trends expert, in a press release. "At the same time, a home is not just a checklist of practical features, it’s a feeling. Homeowners and buyers today are looking to the past to create a sense of warmth, character, and comfort in even the most high-tech environments.”
Here are the top five trends Zillow thinks will be big in the home space in 2025.
Smart Home and Other High-Tech Features
More now than ever before, home buyers are looking for homes that have high-tech features like solar panels, electric vehicle chargers, and other environmental friendly features. The more green and sustainable the house is, the better.
"Mentions of whole-home batteries have surged by 62% since last year, the fastest growing feature in this year’s analysis," according to Zillow's press release.

Cozy Vibes
It's all about comfort and coziness for homes in 2025. Homebuyers are now focusing their top picks on whether or not homes have smaller rooms and less open spaces. Think: smaller dens, and homey living room floor plans.
"Listings mentioning 'cozy' have increased by 35% compared to last year," the press release said.
Old-World Comeback
Bring on the nostalgia and vintage feel.
"Nostalgia is a growing trend, appearing in 14% more listings than in 2023, while 'vintage' mentions are up by 9%," the press release said. "Additionally, bibliophilic decor and home libraries are on the rise, showing up 22% more frequently in listings on Zillow."
Another keyword on the rise? The Victorian era scullery, which was a small room or second kitchen where entertainers can hide the dirty work of meal prep and clean-up.
Climate Resiliency
It should be no surprise that climate resiliency is on the rise. Climate resilient homes are specifically designed to withstand severe weather like flooding, hurricanes, and more.
"The share of for-sale listings on Zillow that mention flood barriers is up 22% compared to last year, seismic retrofitting is up 20%, and water catchment systems is up 19%," said the press release. "Drought-resistant turf yards are showing up 14% more often compared to a year ago."
Spa-Inspired Wet Rooms
Wet rooms are bathrooms that are completely waterproof. Most of these designs use an open floor plan that eliminates any separation between the shower and the rest of the room. This open floor plan gives the bathroom an elegant and modern look that is becoming more and more popular, and this will continue into 2025.
"This 2025 bathroom trend is part of a growing emphasis on wellness design," the press release said. "As buyers become increasingly attuned to the ways their home impacts their physical and mental wellbeing, the share of for-sale listings that mention wellness features is up 16% compared to last year."
