The Small Home Upgrades That Instantly Improve a Space, According to Spruce Readers
For September, we asked our loyal Facebook followers what small adjustments they made in their home that really improved their space. And as per usual, the answers were thoughtful, intriguing, and smart.
From organizing small spaces like closets and entryways to simply using paint, our Facebook followers really came through with clever ideas. Read on to find out what the most fascinating answers were and see how you can update your home too this fall.
Painting
We received a ton of comments that showcased the power of something simple yet incredibly important: paint. Many mentioned that they painted their kitchen cabinets which transformed their dull and boring kitchen into a more vibrant and fun room. Another follower transformed their entire house from an outdated yellow paint to a neutral and modern sophisticated gray color for the entirety of the inside of their house.
While painting walls or features in your home like cabinets or furniture may seem simple, it's one of the easiest ways to transform any space. Whether you need to simply touch up your gorgeous walls, or redo your entire bedroom walls, the right color will ensure your home is uniquely you and perfect for your own particular taste.

Organizing
Unsurprisingly, many comments voiced their love of organizing. Some went the simple route and simply rearranged their kitchen to make it more functional. Others commented that organizing their pantry and closets really transformed their home. Another said that simply redoing their spice rack was the one thing that made a huge difference in their kitchen.
Organizing your closets, shoe racks, garage, pantry and more can not only make it easier and more functional for you to use any particular room, but it also makes your home feel cleaner and lets you breathe better. Don't ever underestimate the power of a good organization session.
New rugs
We also had a couple of comments praising how new rugs changed their home right before their eyes. Whether you want to add a new funky rug to your living room or swap out your dark and outdated rug for something more calming like a Moroccan neutral-colored rug, rugs have the ability to transform any room into a reflection of your own personal style. We can't praise this simple yet powerful adjustment enough.
Lighting
We also had a few comments about the power of new lighting. One comment, in particular, talked about how adding dimmers to their space made all the difference in their home.
From hanging chandeliers to small nightstand lamps, lighting truly can turn any space in your home from boring and basic to fabulous. And you can cater your lighting to your own needs and wants. For example, if you hate the overhead lights in your kitchen because they are way too bright and unromantic, you can swap those out for dimmable lights that you can change with just the touch of a button.
